- How long does flooring installation take?

- What is LVT flooring?
- LVT stands for luxury vinyl tile. It is a layered vinyl floor with a printed wood, stone or tile effect under a tough wear layer. Unlike laminate it is waterproof, which is why it is the usual choice for kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms. It comes as planks or tiles, in click-fit or glue-down versions.
- Laminate or LVT: which is better?
- Neither is better everywhere. Laminate is harder-wearing against scratches and usually cheaper, so it suits living rooms, hallways and bedrooms. LVT is waterproof, warmer and quieter underfoot, so it suits kitchens, bathrooms and busy family homes. Many homes end up with both: laminate through the living areas and LVT in the kitchen and bathroom. We will tell you honestly which fits each room.
- Can you lay laminate over uneven floorboards?
- Not directly. Uneven boards cause gaps, bounce and failed click joints. We check the subfloor first, then level it, screw down loose boards or lay a ply overlay before any laminate or LVT goes down. On older Falkirk properties this preparation is often the most important part of the job.
